Jack Petchey - Achievement Awards - April 2024
On the 23rd April 2024 at Millfield Theatre Enfield there was an awards evening to celebrate all the Jack Petchey winners in Enfield. Congratulations to all our student Jack Petchey Achievement winners and Mrs Ayer our Expressive Arts Technician who won a leaders award after working 30 years at ECS and got a round of applause. The evening was a great success for the winners and their families, they also got to meet students from other schools that had achieved the same awards which was a good experience.

We would all like to say a big thank you to Reach Out 2 Kids (ROK), for all their support and organising mentors to support the students from planning inspectorate and Croftstone. ROK has arranged for all nine of last years winners and participants in the GLA students challenge along with this year’s winners, to attend a Student Showcase at Haven Village London, on the 22nd March, where our students will be showing employers and volunteers their presentations and models. This will be a great networking opportunity for the students and give them positive exposure for their hard work and achievements
Visit by Ataturk Anadolu High School from Istanbul - Tuesday 30th January 24
Visit by Ataturk Anadolu High School from Istanbul - Tuesday 30th January 24
On Tuesday, 30th January, fifteen students from Istanbul Anadolu High School came to visit Edmonton County School. Our Year 12 and Y13 Turkish language students assisted us in extending a ECS welcome to our guests. Some of the visiting students preferred to visit the Maths or French lessons, while others attended lessons in Business and Computer Science. After these lessons each student enthusiastically discussed their experiences in these classrooms. Thank you to Mr Deniz, Ms Pivert, Ms Bozkurt, Mr Lewis and Mr Stone for allowing the students to visit their classes. The principal, a teacher from Istanbul Atatürk Anadolu High School, and our A-level students discussed the educational system at our school and in the UK, the individual courses each student is taking and the stages of university preparation. Students had the chance to interact socially and exchange knowledge and experiences with one another. For both ECS and the visiting students from Istanbul it was a constructive and enjoyable day. Before their visit was over Mr Ferdi Altundas, the principal of Istanbul Atatürk Anadolu High School, offered our Executive Headteacher, Dr Susan Tranter, gifts from Istanbul.
Mr Altundas was impressed with our school and its educational system.
I would also like to thank all my A level Turkish students for their contributions.
